Dentistry for Children, an affiliate of Spark Dental Management, has an immediate opportunity available for a Registered Dental Assistant!

We are currently on the search for a new Orthodontic Assistant who has the passion, skills, and drive for helping patients achieve beautiful smiles and better health, while creating “wow” experiences at every visit! This position is primarily responsible for performing clinical and non-clinical duties to ensure compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality standard of care for patients. You will have a working knowledge of the instruments used in orthodontic care and familiarity with standard orthodontic procedures, techniques, and methods. A successful Ortho Assistant exhibits an efficient, knowledgeable, and positive countenance for every patient experience.

This position will travel between our Jersey City and Cliffside Park locations. This position is part-time. The hours are from 8AM – 5:30PM. A full-time opportunity can be discussed by working in the pediatric dental department on the off days. There are substantial growth opportunities!

How you will make an impact

• Must be able to work in a kid friendly environment
• Knows and understands the difference between each orthodontic chairside procedure, performs the procedures with the correct techniques and accuracy, and completes each procedure in the time allotted
• Reviews all charts prior to bringing all patients into the back for treatment
• Checks oral hygiene, providing oral hygiene instructions
• Properly sterilizes instruments on a regular basis
• Knows how to operate and utilize the practice management software
• Knows and understands how to properly take patient photos and correctly imports them into the system in a timely manner (facial and intra-oral photos)
• Completes impressions/scans as needed
• Assists doctor with cementation of bands and bracket placement
• Removes and places wires, ties, power chains, etc.
• Properly takes the correct x-rays when needed on each patient
• Follows OSHA, Infection Control, and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
• Must maintain Dental Assisting License in good standing and complete the CE Credits required by state

What you will need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• RDA License required
• Current CPR Healthcare Provider Certification
• Radiology Certification required
• Orthodontic experience preferred
