This Ophthalmic Technician I will be responsible for:
  • Work with a pediatric population to perform various testing and imaging for ambulatory clinical needs to include Ocular Coherence testing, fundus imaging, Topography ,Visual Field testing and IOL Master.
  • Perform various ocular measurements as directed by an ophthalmologist such as measuring ocular pressures by applanation or tonopen, measuring corneal thickness with PACHMate, measuring corneal curvature with a handheld keratometer and instilling eye drops as directed by an ophthalmologist.
  • Work as part of a team performing clinical room preparation and supply ordering as needed. Stocking equipment and medication and ensuring proper storage.
  • Ensuring pertinent documents for specified clinical areas are prepared, organized, and communicated effectively, efficiently, and with accuracy.
  • Assisting the department with regulatory compliance.
  • Gathering quotes for equipment purchases and arranging equipment repairs.
  • Scanning and organizing computerized patient records/images for Ophthalmology Program and other administrative duties within the program.

In order to qualify, you must have:
  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or science-related field is preferred.
  • Communication skills to deal effectively with clinicians, administrative staff, and families/young patients and well-developed writing skills.
  • Keen organizational skills appropriate to supporting a medical office and balancing assigned tasks and competing responsibilities in the normal course of a clinical ophthalmologic setting.
  • Computer and research skills for tasks of word processing and data coordination.
