Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Assistant. The role is primarily responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist with patient care while providing the highest quality of care, and an exceptional patient experience.

As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you’ll be responsible for preparing the patient for the exam with the doctor. You’ll gather important medical information from the patient, and perform medical testing.

Responsibilities:

· Welcomes patients and visitors with a positive, warm disposition

· Keeps doctors’ rooms filled and monitors patient flow, properly communicates delays.

· Initial workup of patients to obtain chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history, and complete review of systems.

· Neutralization of glasses, performs visual acuity, auto-refraction, automated lensometry, and keratometry

· Inserts eye drops for dilation, and Schirmer’s tear testing as needed.

· Special Diagnostic Testing, Fundus Photography, A-scan, B-scans, OCTs

· Maintains exam rooms and assists with general office housekeeping

· Confirm the schedule: call appointments the day before to confirm the appointment time. Contact/reschedule no-shows and cancellations

· Other duties as assigned to include cross-training, support to the front desk and optical, etc

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Bilingual - Vietnamese or Spanish

· Passion for self-improvement and continuing education

· Detail-oriented; reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, work environment

· Computer & Keyboard Skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· A fast learner and able to adapt to change.

· Must be flexible to accommodate schedule change(s) on short notice to fulfill practice needs

· Be punctual and have good attendance

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
