Job Title: Operations Manager

Department: Operations

Reports To: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY: The Operations Manager coordinates all administrative functions, enforces corporate policy, procedures, and operating systems for Operations and Managerial Teams. Creating, maintaining, and nurturing the relationship with our customer(s) will also be critical to this role. The Operations Manager will need to have the foresight to mitigate potential issues that could arise with the customer: planning for staffing at all assigned locations, damages, and safety, and to mentor key management members to best utilize resources at each location. Advise the Director of Operations of concerns and potential issues as well as the suggested solutions. Strategically networks with an urgency around company growth opportunities in their region.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will be able to travel up to 5% - 10% of the time, or as needed with business needs. It is critical for this person to have a strong presence onsite for customer and team member accessibility, in order to proactively implement operational goals throughout departments. This role is best suited for someone who can think outside of the box for creative solutions and is ready for an intense, committed, and exciting experience with constant company growth in mind.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and directing staff daily, advising supervisors how to best utilize their staff.
  • Developing staff, especially management, by using a supportive and collaborative approach: assigning accountabilities, setting clear objectives, establishing priorities, and monitoring & evaluating results.
  • Fostering an environment that promotes commitment to quality and excellence
  • Work closely with other functional managers to contribute to the overall success of the Company
  • Working knowledge of Scorecard KPI’s to ensure results are on track with Company objectives
  • Managing all other logistics and distribution aspects of day-to-day operations at the warehouse level
  • Nurturing client relationship through daily interaction and building a team that will produce strong and consistent results.

  • Ability to be adaptable and agile with changing environments Interact and problem solve with Warehouse Customers, Carrier/Truck Driver Customers and the company Call Center team members
  • Leads by example, including: training and development of new and existing team members to reach operational performance goals and expectations
  • An open attitude with the ability to work varying schedules, including potential nights weekends or whatever is going to support company success.
  • Maintains a level of engagement and awareness of operations, even during offsite hours
  • Maintains a hands-on and highly engaged approach with team members and customers
  • Responsible for reviewing, ensuring accuracy, and approving weekly Payroll items by assigned deadlines
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of UC service offerings, and consistently looks for new ways to expand business services among our current and future customers
  • Takes ownership and responsibility on planning and executing UC business projects and initiatives as they arise
  • Attends or facilitates meetings, including safety, customer, and team meetings on a regular and consistent basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strives for maximum customer service levels.
  • Ability lead and work with others within a cohesive team
  • Exceptional communicator internally and with our customers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid pallet jack certification.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and warehouse safety procedures

  • Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment with close proximity to other people
  • Ability to work in cold and/or dry environment, or any combination of both throughout the shift
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple operations at one time, with varying roles, responsibilities, and duties

  • Work hours/Shifts: TBD by Director, and heavily determined by business and customer needs.
  • Programs & Equipment used: Forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker, box cutter, wrap rolls, tape, UC proprietary software, and Microsoft Suite
  • Long hours, weekends, and or consecutive workdays, as required by business needs

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
