Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Coordinator

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety is number one priority in the process of planning and executing any and all operation and maintenance activities at the plant.
  • Prepare, hang, and audit LOTO’s for daily activities and outages
  • Prepare and issue work permits to contractors
  • Stand watch in the Control Room when the shift is short on people
  • Daily, review new service Requests in Maximo and create work orders
  • Responsibilities include planning and scheduling maintenance activities, and preparing materials requests for parts
  • Must be willing to actively participate in a team environment to effectively support a multi -skilled work force in the operation and maintenance of a combined cycle power station.
  • Under the direction of the Operations and Maintenance Managers, the O&M Coordinator will coordinate and administer activities associated with the maintenance of all equipment installed at the plant.
  • Carry out delegated responsibilities as outlined by the Operations and Maintenance Managers to include planning, direction, and closure of maintenance tasks as they relate to preventative, corrective, emergency, major maintenance, and safety maintenance work orders.
  • The O&M Coordinator will support, maintain and improve the maintenance management and support systems at the station including preventative and predictive maintenance program development and implementation.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of various contractors to ensure cost is controlled and the quality of the work meets stated standards.
  • Assist and make recommendations to the Operations and Maintenance Managers regarding purchases, plant budgeting and equipment modifications.
  • Perform any activities as directed by the Operations and /or Maintenance Manager that will ensure the maintenance program for the entire plant is carried out in a professional manner, and ensures adherence to prudent industry practices and OEM requirements.
  • Special projects and all other duties as assigned


Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records, prepare LOTOs, work authorizations, permits, etc.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's.
  • Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel.
  • Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
  • Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical/ electrical equipment with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion.
  • Proficient at Water Chemistry.
  • Proficient in Maximo.
  • Read and understand P&ID’s


Experience

  • Control Room Operator at a combined cycle facility
  • Contractor oversight


Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift when required and be available to work for call-ins and work overtime as needed.
