The Pratt & Whitney Oklahoma City Heavy Maintenance Center (HMC) Process Improvement Engineer (PIE) will improve work instructions and other related maintenance processes to facilitate reducing turnaround time of disassembly, repair, assembly, and testing of gas-turbine engines at the maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in support of production delivery schedule.

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Read and provide interpretation of technical data as necessary to support production
  • Participate in teams reviewing and investigating process breakdowns; perform root cause and corrective action on parts and processes that are not in control
  • Develop and/or utilize robust standard work and desktop procedures for HMC PIE processes
  • Oversee corrective actions that result from tech data changes
  • Create and maintain master work control documents and work instructions for new parts and assemblies as well as modifications to existing products
  • Perform six-sigma and lean engineering analyses via process walks to improve product/process development and sustain production
  • Benchmark off best-in-class organizations
  • Generate maintenance awareness briefs to reduce errors in the maintenance process
  • Perform any other related functions or support other MRO production lines as required by management to ensure the success of the enterprise

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university w/minimum 5 years of experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college/university w/minimum 2 years of experience
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Ability to write concise, easy-to-understand technical work instructions
  • The ability to work in cross-functional teams on a wide variety of tasks and with limited supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to work 1st (0700-1600) shift and work extra time as necessary to ensure completion of assigned tasks. May be called in off-hours to answer process-related questions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years process or manufacturing engineering experience on gas-turbine engines
  • Operational experience in an MRO engine facility
  • Industrial Engineering degree
  • Knowledge and experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP
