Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting Manager with daily growing activities.

• Coordinate all cultural practices, planting, pruning, trellising, irrigation management, and pesticide application.

• Coordinate and execute operational planning and forecasting

• Hire and train Nursery staff

• Keep accurate daily records and ensure all plant material is tracked using a database inventory system.

• Supervise purchase of supplies and maintain equipment to maintain workflow and meet production goals.

• Assist in the development and implementation of best practices and SOPs.

• Implement innovations and conduct trials/experiments to evaluate possible improvements to the crop.

• Implement a clean stock program in coordination with the Nursery Manager.

• Perform other duties as instructed by management.

• Follow Company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, etc.

• Ensure the safekeeping of propriety varieties and confidential information.

Candidate Profile

Requirements:

• A degree in Horticulture or Plant Science is preferred
• Bilingual (English/ Spanish)
• 2 years or equivalent experience in nurseries (substrates preferred)
• Knowledge of outdoor farming methods
• Knowledge of irrigation systems
• Container growing technical experience
• Detail-oriented, accurate, reliable, and able to multitask
• Experience with labor tracking
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with multiple departments after an initial period of training.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft programs
• Able to work flexible hours, including start times that may differ from fellow employees, based on operational needs
• Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends and/or holidays, when needed
• Must be willing to learn new skills to support personal and professional growth.
• . Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Compensation & Benefits:

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for Nursery Grower Supervisor: $45,552 to $53,872 USD.
