Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Intern you will be responsible for assisting with established nursing care procedures, routine patient care assignments, working in controlled and/or uncontrolled patient care situations, and assisting with/in therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will be assisting the RN with patient movement, and treatments as prescribed by the physician and for clerical duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager or designee.

What you will do for this role:

• You will participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
• You will assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients, assisting with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs, transfer patients to and from other units, departments, or entities.
• You will assist with discharges and demonstrate proper body mechanics.
• You will provide or assist with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, oxygen delivery, and venous compression devices.
• You will obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests and ensure accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
• You will retrieve medications from pharmacy, storage room, or tube system and deliver to licensed staff members as instructed.
• You will assist patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed.

What qualifications you will need:

• Enrollment in a professional nursing school with completion of fundamentals of nursing (lecture and clinical).
• Must be registered in nursing school and currently in first year of clinical rotation.
• Minimum of one year experience in a hospital setting, preferred
• Current BCLS issued by the American Heart Association, required.
