II. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direction of the radiologist, performs a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing
radiation for the purpose of demonstrating the function of organs. Performs procedures utilizing
radiopharmaceuticals, gamma cameras, and computer technology. Functions using independent
judgment and ingenuity when performing exam procedures. Manages and monitors equipment
used during examinations. Develops and organizes diagnostic quality images prior to sending them
to the radiologist for interpretation. Requires the ability to work with several groups of patients
and physical conditions, to include adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Responsible for delivering
high quality service, and to interact appropriately with patients and their representatives, physicians,
and co-workers. Safely manages the environment of care while providing services.
III. EDUCATION, LICENSE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Graduate of a two (2) year accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology or hospital trained
And qualified to take the registry exam(s) listed below.
- Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear
Medicine or current registry with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
Or registry eligible and pass either the ARRT(N) or NMTCB exam within one (1) year of employment.
- Current MRT license with the Texas Department of Health.
- Appropriate experience as determined by the Manager of Medical Imaging, and/or Director
Of Medical Imaging.
- CPR Certification.
6. Annual TB screening.
