Job description
The North and South Dakota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (NSDPQC) through the University of North Dakota is hiring a Tribal Liaison to support the mission and work of the NSDPQC within the tribal nations in the region. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with tribal leaders, IHS facilities, hospitals, clinics, and other resources that serve our vast Native population.
In this role you will have the opportunity to affect healthcare delivery and outcomes for mothers and babies across North and South Dakota. This role is perfect for someone who can build relationships on a foundation of respect and trust, manage projects, and facilitate meetings with a diverse audience. This person should have some familiarity with the concept of quality improvement (QI). This person will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of Indigenous-serving hospital and clinic teams participating in NSDPQC initiatives and will be the main point of contact for those teams. This role will help identify barriers to participation and actively work to overcome them.
The University of North Dakota Tribal Liaison will work with Dr. Andrew Williams on The North & South Dakota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (NSDPQC) Initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Build relationships and recruit healthcare facility teams to participate in NSDPQC QI initiatives
Work with NSDPQC Leadership to develop and coordinate activities of NSDPQC and its initiatives; activities may include, but are not limited to, facilitating meetings, preparing reports and presentations, and evaluating NSDPQC and its initiatives in how it relates to the Indigenous nations participating
Identify barriers to participation for IHS and other Indigenous serving healthcare facilities
Participate in idea development of grant writing for QI – related funding opportunities
Represent NSDPQC in national and state/region-wide meetings as needed
Communicate with external key partners regularly
Contribute to grant reporting requirements as needed
Contribute to the overall success and sustainability of NSDPQC
Contribute to leadership staff meetings and discussions
Contribute to the planning of organization-wide events
Provide Indigenous perspective in strategic planning for NSDPQC
Willingness to travel throughout North and South Dakota
Other duties as assigned
Required Competencies

Minimum Requirements
Experience with principles and practices of quality management, quality improvement in a public health care setting
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint
Experience with virtual meeting platforms, e.g., Zoom, Webex, Team Meetings, etc.
Successful completion of criminal history records check.
