The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations around the globe. Job Description

At Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) a culture of diversity, teamwork, and collaboration is key to our success. The NNL IT Department is looking for a Network Cabling Technician to join the Networking and Communications team. This team manages and maintains Enterprise networking infrastructure key to supporting the NNL mission. You'll have the opportunity to support enterprise networking routers, switches, and appliances to support the thousands of engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel located around the world. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience or;
  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience or;
  • Bachelor degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

  • Undertakes the installation of data equipment, including data racks, patch panels, cable trays, etc.
  • Utilizes appropriate testing equipment to test installed cables
  • Provides documentation of all information on all cable and equipment
  • Improves upon existing installation and troubleshooting procedures
  • Performs cabling installations, including New Commercial Data, Voice, Fiber Optic
  • Performs maintenance on cable systems by installing, repairing, programming, and upgrading cable infrastructure
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshooting cabling system issues
  • Applies established procedures in testing every newly installed or relocated cable
  • Keeps cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standard
  • Documents time and materials expended on work assignment daily
