The network administrator 3 is responsible for managing the operation of the corporate networks by installing systems like local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and data communication systems. They are also responsible for regularly evaluating the performance of the network, they help users get onto the network and they train users on how to use the network correctly, solve problems and fix issues.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching with both Cisco and Meraki devices.
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is required.
  • Assist in network design and implementation to include redundant site links and multiple communication paths ensuring near 100% uptime.
  • Maintain network connectivity of all computer workstations in the corporate and store locations. This includes customization of network templates, upgrade of network equipment as well as troubleshooting of wireless networks.
  • Provide network support to users including the setup and troubleshooting of remote connectivity using VPN as well as site to site connections between datacenters.
  • Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources including the setup of firewall rules and role-based access of network devices.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and back-up using Azure as well as redundant data centers.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades as well as responding to events identified by the security team needing remediation.
  • Monitor network to ensure optimal performance including the setup/testing of QOS as well as proactively identifying individual store/location bandwidth performance issues/bottlenecks.
  • Create technical support documentation for networks as well as setup of confluence to assist with team redundancy
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration for WAN configuration for stores and corporate locations.
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services including assistance with MFA for remote connectivity.
  • Manage and lead a team of employees through IT projects using Jira. This includes ensuring that proper documentation is provided including realistic due dates.
  • Ensure that team is held accountable to project delivery based on previously agreed due dates. This would include the creation of a metric driven KPI to monitor progress

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts
  • Proven network engineering, network operations, and network performance analysis skills
  • Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of computing infrastructures
  • Familiarity with server management and monitoring tools
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with scripting languages
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 6+ years' experience in a network administration role
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 preferred
  • Previous experience with Cisco/Meraki switches and routers preferred
  • CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP certification a plus
