National Business Development Team Overview:

The role of the National Business Development Team (NBDT) is to grow company profits, by continually sourcing and on-boarding new customers, and by professionally serving and developing strong relationships with existing customers through continual needs assessment, solution development, and solution delivery. The company expects the NBDT to be consummate professionals in all activities relating to representing the Company, in the office, on the phone, in the field, entertaining customers and otherwise. The company expects the NBDT to achieve consistent growth, year over year in spread dollars, load count, and in the value of our customer relationships (customer relationship value = $ spread/customer). Annually, Sales goals are expected to rise.

The role of our NBDT is essential and one that offers individuals a significant opportunity for earnings, advancement and career satisfaction. Job responsibilities include all duties assigned by company, and the following by way of example:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Source new customers to generate sales and demonstrate strong interpersonal and prospecting skills both over the phone and in person.
  • Grow volume and profitability of existing customers by providing consistent and strong professional service.
  • Focus on securing lanes over loads, regular shipper over irregular shippers: Priority should be placed on finding and developing customers with repeat, truckload volume.
  • Demonstrate achievement, or at minimum ongoing progress toward, meeting or exceeding all specified company goals for, e.g., revenue, spread, load count.
  • Work as a collaborative team member, always available to assist colleagues, teammates, carriers, customers, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to perfectly understand and articulate customer needs to (a) maximize customer satisfaction; and (b) maximize motor carrier engagement, involvement and satisfaction.
  • Consistent punctuality, attendance, and high customer contact volume is essential the success of this role.
  • Effective on-boarding of continual and consistent freight.
  • Strong understanding of prospects and customers in their account portfolio.
  • Strong networking capabilities within existing customers and future prospects.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to ensure effective account portfolio management and potential field travel.
  • Proficiency in utilizing TMS and CRM to generate reports and analyze information in order to grow volume and profitability.
  • Close deals, accept and enter loads, set appointments, and collaborate with all internal teams for consistency and transparency to ensure the success in covering customer freight.
  • Maintain constant communication with customer regarding all essential shipment/delivery details to maintain visibility.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrate pricing proficiency, resourcefulness and creativity, relating to:
  • Pricing company services to customers and estimating costs of carrier services.
  • Negotiating pricing and service alternatives with customers.

Skills, Education and Experience:

  • College degree preferred.
  • TMS + CRM experience preferred.
  • Transportation-Logistics Sales experience required.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work well within a team as well as independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to attention to detail and consistent follow-through is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
