Summary

A National Account Manager (NAM) promotes and sells Metal Sales products and services through large multi-location building material distribution channels. As NAM, you will build relationships, develop sales and marketing strategies, increase sales opportunities, and strategically position Metal Sales products with targeted accounts. These efforts position Metal Sales as the metal roofing supplier of choice for key accounts.

A successful NAM is a sales leader with a demonstrated track record of identifying, pitching and closing large accounts requiring multiple touch points within both the selling and purchasing companies. Qualified candidates must have an in-depth understanding of building material distribution channels to include national and regional lumber yard chains servicing pro contractors, Co-ops, building material distributors, and roofing distribution companies. The NAM must be comfortable balancing the needs of the customer while also achieving MSMC’s sales and profitability goals.

Metal Sales is the nation's largest independent manufacturer of metal roofing and building systems with 21 manufacturing locations across America. This position will require approximately 50% travel.

You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Build meaningful professional relationships with decision makers and influencers inside of national accounts.
  • Planning and executing sales and marketing plans in support of current business and developing targeted growth strategies to increase sales revenue and profitability.
  • Developing, updating, maintaining, and executing new National Account plans that includes target account prospects and their sales cycle plans, project revenue, project decision dates, and project implementation/first service dates.
  • Work closely with Regional Sales VP’s and Territory Sales Managers to drive sales programs with assigned national accounts.
  • Regularly partnering with internal teams including: Product Management to develop plans for executing product launches and training, Marketing to ensure assigned accounts have the required literature, POP, planograms, displays, samples, etc., Procurement, Operations and Credit teams.
  • Recommending and monitoring product mixes at assigned national accounts; reviewing monthly reports and reporting progress to key account and Metal Sales leadership.
  • Negotiating annual buying agreements and price increases and communicating results accordingly.
  • Developing KPI’s and coaching, mentoring, and educating internal sales and operations teams as to the specific needs of the assigned national accounts.
  • Planning and executing market shops and developing detailed reporting and action plans.
  • Continuously monitoring competitive situations and developing and implementing aggressive plans to defend and grow our market position.

Job Requirements:

The most qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years’ sales experience and successful track record in the building materials industry, preferably with National Account responsibility
  • Proven experience with all aspects of selling and servicing the distribution channels described above
  • Successful track record of closing and servicing large multi-location accounts
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills such as managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high growth, and hands on environment along with professional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to travel 50% or more
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM software
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required
