Job Description
The Corrosion Field Technician is responsible for various surveys, inspections, and construction projects on industry infrastructure. This position will be a lead position within their respective crew of 2-4 workers. This position will oversee and manage small to intermediate size survey and construction projects as the working supervisor of crew, with management oversight. Must be proficient in corrosion control and pipeline integrity methods and technologies. Intricate understanding of construction and installation of cathodic protection systems and components. This position will be based out of our Clarksburg, WV or Washington, PA offices.
*Experience with coating inspection/application is a plus*
General Duties:
  • Review and understand projects documents to develop a job plan
  • Communicate job plan with crew members, and organize the day’s work
  • Communicate daily with clients and management for job updates and progress
  • Input time for crew
  • Complete and submit daily paperwork and job safety forms
Survey duties in the following areas:
  • Perform and oversee CIS, Cell-to-cell, DCVG, ACVG, DOC and PCM surveys
  • Soil resistivity testing
  • Atmospheric Corrosion Inspection
  • Stray current interference Testing
  • Rectifier troubleshooting
  • AC mitigation testing
  • Current requirement testing
Construction duties may include the following areas:
  • Installation and repair of cathodic protection systems and their components
  • Troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Operation of small construction equipment
  • Excavation and potholing
  • Under ground and above ground conduit work
  • Low voltage wiring
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • *REQUIRED* AMPP (NACE) Certification of CP-1 or higher
  • *PREFERRED* AMPP (NACE) Certification of CP-1 or higher
  • Additional certifications (AMPP Coatings Inspector, CESSWI, etc.) are a plus
  • Understand and operate all CP/corrosion related instrumentation and tools
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends with frequent travel
  • Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather
  • Physically able to walk distances of 5 mile+ at a time, in cross-country terrain and be able to lift and carry 50lbs
  • All candidates must pass pre-employment drug testing, along with random drug testing during employment.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient with computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, and technical systems)
  • Possess Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States with no major driving infractions
  • Strong organization skills, with ability to manage daily paperwork and pre-work checklists
  • Able to make quick and reasonable on-job decisions without oversight
