Position Title: Music Therapist/Activities Coordinator

Overview: The role of the Music Therapist/Activities Coordinator is to offer support and assistance to the assisted living residents at The Village through the provision of programming. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing programs that promote the overall well-being of the residents. This position is also responsible for designing programming with modifications for differently abled individuals, and sharing/teaching that programming to the Assisted Living Coordinators and Direct Care Staff. This position reports to the Life Enrichment Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in and assist with new resident orientation. Provide ongoing follow up with resident, encourage participation in activities, and assist with orienting resident to Assisted Living routine.
  • Complete resident Lifestyle Profiles for the resident’s chart.
  • Conduct resident assessments and create therapeutic programs targeted to meet resident-specific needs related to overall well-being.
  • Design and facilitate programs with modifications for differing abilities, according to Senior GEMS™ model, and teach others how to facilitate the same.
  • Participate in quarterly family meetings with Assisted Living Manager, as needed.
  • Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff.
  • Provide comfort, companionship and reassurance to residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information
  • Research and stay up to date on maintaining all components of the Eden Alternative’s Domains of Well-Being™.
  • Conduct and coordinate scheduled activities for residents.
  • Update activity board on a regular basis.
  • Communicate the needs, progress and development of residents and programs to Assisted Living Manager.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations of scheduled programs and events.
  • Create and post computer printed materials regarding daily activities and programs including sign-up sheets, event flyers, weekly movies, etc.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all other departments.
  • Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education, including but not limited to training and coaching on the Positive™ Approach to Care.
  • Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

You Have:

  • Four-year degree/training in therapeutic recreation.
  • 1+ years’ experience designing and conducting small and large group activities.
  • Knowledge of creative arts, humanities, world cultures and entertainment.
  • Must be willing to work weekends.
