POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs technical work on mobile remote sensing survey projects and checks the work of in-house associates and consultants. Assists with quality and timeliness of project deliveries. Operates Department hardware and software in support of 3D remote sensing products and services. Creates and evaluates topographic surfaces in 3D. Coordinate with the Districts and Consultants in Mobile Data/Imagery data transfer, management, and archival. Assist the Mobile Survey team with Quality Assurance Review (QAR).

Responds to customer requests and support other Department teams on mobile remote sensing survey topics.

Assists the Mobile Survey Team with research and testing of emerging Mobile Survey Technologies.

Works closely with consultants on State Topographic Mapping Support contract projects, occasionally participating on site on-site to maintain expertise and ensure projects are performed properly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of surveying and mapping principles. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Knowledge of Global Positioning Systems (GPS)/Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) principles. Skilled in the use of personal computer operations and Microsoft Windows computer operating system. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software. Skilled in the basic use of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Ability to master photogrammetric/LiDAR editing software processes. Ability to follow Department procedures. Ability to master cartographic software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to comprehend remote sensing principles and computations. Ability to verify the remote sensing survey work of associates and consultants. Ability to use Department software for processing, adjustment and quality assurance of mobile remote sensing data. Ability to lift 25 pounds.



OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Minimal travel is required.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent, and one year experience in Surveying & Mapping, Photogrammetry, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). A Bachelor of Science degree can be substituted for the required experience.
