Summary
The Imaging Service Specialist – ISS inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and verifies the performance of complex medical imaging systems. The specialty areas are not limited to following Ultrasound, CR/DR and Fluoroscopy Suites, Mammography Suites, Intervention Radiology (IR)/Cath-Labs, Bone Densitometry, CT, MRI, LINAC Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT. This position has the requirement for the ISS to be familiar with at least 5 modalities, and an expert in 3 of the listed modalities. General Familiarity of the other imaging systems with regards to performing maintenance is all that is required. The ISS serves as an advisor to the clinical staff in the specific safe use, and proper operation of the imaging systems; advises technicians on the technical concerning of each imaging systems. The position ensures regulatory and policy compliance, assists with inventory management, contributes to department improvement, and personal development by mentoring other ISS associates.
Responsibilities:
Technical Service – 40%
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and operational performance
inspections (OPI) on complex medical imaging systems.
Repair and calibrate complex medical imaging equipment and systems.
Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment
situations, and any customer concerns.
Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside
service technicians to ensure proper service delivery.
Lead Service Operations, with regards to Special Imaging System Projects as assigned,
and contributes to the development of others through mentoring and sharing expertise.
All other imaging system service duties as assigned, within the scope of work per the
contracted project specific agreement.
Regulatory Compliance – 25%
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database when assigned access to
the customers CMMS system, with regards to equipment inventory, Preventive
maintenance (PM) schedules, equipment nomenclature, and service event history.
Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory
agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and
accurate
Work with Medical Physicist on accurate and aligned radiation outputs to ensure
regulatory compliance and patient safety.
Account Relationship Management – 25%
Build and maintain customer relationships.
Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinicians.
Adheres to the highest levels of professional customer service, with regards to personal
integrity, honest communication, personal courage to endeavor, dignified and
courteous behavior, and respect of the individuals you are assigned to provide medical
imaging equipment services to each and every service event daily.
Inventory – 10 %
Perform periodic inspections of current inventory status and maintain common failure
parts inventory to ensure equipment uptime.
Verify the completion of security analysis for new customer equipment.
Performs Incoming Inspections to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of
medical devices, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition
to permanently assigned equipment inventory.
Skills and Experience
Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military training
required.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, of medical
imaging systems.
Frequently required to operate tools/machinery that use hand and/or foot controls (e.g.
drills, saws, electronic test equipment, etc.) when servicing medical imaging equipment.
Education and Qualifications
Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military experience or
two years of equivalent experience.
Complex computer skills including the ability to interpret error codes, defragment harddrives, replace power supplies, and interpret computer codes required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and networking applications required.
Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Functional Competencies
Medical Device Maintenance & Repair: Demonstrates deep understanding of the principles of maintaining and repairing medical assets in accordance customer policy and the OEM’s recommendations. Proficiency in specific imaging modalities will be dependent upon the scope of work and the customer’s needs.
Use of Computerized Medical Asst Management Systems as directed and provided by the customer per the contracted project scope of work as needed. Able to use the systems in accordance with company policy to properly document service information in accordance with the customer’s CMMS and OEM’s guidelines and recommendations.
Regulatory Compliance: Understands all relevant regulatory requirements and demonstrates applicable compliance with regulations.
