Milling Machine Operator A

WORK PERFORMED:
- Sets up and operates all types of milling machines on diversified production, experimental or tool work wherein methods must be devised to machine parts.
- Devises methods to clamp, block and hold work.
- Selects speeds, feeds and tools.
- Selects reference points.
- Uses dividing heads.
- Uses boring head with special tools and cutters.
- Work involves all types of milling operations, including facing and milling, dovetailing, boring, reaming, gear work, etc.
- Uses a wide variety of attachments including slotting equipment, grinding wheels and grinding attachments.
- Frequently works without fixtures.
- Works to close tolerances.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:
Various conventional, NC and CNC milling machines and the attachments thereto, machinists’ hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
Experience and other requirements:
Three (3) years performing the work above.
