Position Title: Mgr., P& C

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Duties & Responsibilities (not listed in any particular order)

  • Work as a proactive and strategic business partner with the ROC to align People & Culture strategy and programs with the commercial business which supports growth and customer service. Works collaboratively with the National Retail P&C Manager, which leads retail P&C needs in the ROC.
  • Leads recruiting efforts to ensure top talent is recruited and retained in accordance with business needs.
  • Provide experience/expertise in all areas of human capital such as employee commitment, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation management, benefits, affirmative action and training and development.
  • Provides thought leadership to Rockies Regional Operations Center General Manager on initiatives, policies, and practices that support company goals and objectives.
  • Manages department operations, the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes for the purpose of providing services including established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements achieving organizational objectives and ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements.
  • Manage employee relations practices necessary to maintain a positive employee-employer relationship and promoting a high level of employee commitment.
  • Investigate/respond to state and federal agency charges of discrimination, wage and hour violations and similar employment related issues working with the VP of People & Culture for final response preparation
  • Evaluates the recommendations for termination within the region to ensure decisions are fair, consistent and in compliance with the State and Federal guidelines and company policies and procedures.
  • Administration of various human resources plans and procedures for all company employees; development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; maintenance of personnel policy manual and other human resource policies and procedures.
  • Manage affirmative action (AA) program, including the AA roster, applicant tracking, and all records required for the AA plan filing, EEO-1 report annually and maintaining other records, reports, and logs to conform to Equal Opportunity regulations.
  • Manage federal and states programs including FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc. to ensure Parkland Rockies ROC is compliant.
  • Develop, recommend, and maintain competitive and creative compensation programs for all employees to ensure internal equity and competitiveness with the external market.
  • Counsel management on appropriate comp levels for existing employees and new hires.
  • Review, develop, and recommend all benefits administration including 401 (k), health and welfare benefits, etc.
  • Identify, recommend and, as necessary, conduct programs intended to aid individuals and groups in improving their job performance.
  • Work closely with management to identify high potential employees as part of succession planning, develop career programs for those key to the Rockies Regional Operations Center continual growth as a company, and establish appropriate programs and timelines to assist in a smooth transition for those wo may be entering or exiting their positions.
  • Lead, develop and coach People & Culture team members by fostering open dialogue and creating strong morale and spirit in their team, and work collaboratively with the Parkland People & Culture teams.
  • Employee is expected to set priorities, be proactive and meet deadlines. Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, informing and coordinating with others as expected. Employee is accountable for insuring the technical accuracy of their work and maintaining good working relations, both internal and external to Parkland. Self-direction and motivation are also expected.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.

Skills & Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative nature and the ability to work in a cross functional team environment.
  • Proficient in U.S. Employment Law.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Systems, Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Effective time management, delegation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of UltiPro system.
  • Experience with acquisitions and HR integrations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in the area of Human Resources Management.
  • A strong background in employee engagement and process improvement.
  • Strong business leadership, problem solving, communication, negotiation, organizational skills. Ability to work with senior management on business issues.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in employee relations, recruitment, benefits, compensation and employment law/practices.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Knowledge of employment law.
  • Experience within oil and gas.

Special Requirements:

  • The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to travel when needed and drive to Parkland locations for out of state employee relations issues and meetings.
