ABOUT CAMPBELL COUNTY HEALTH

Campbell County Health Behavioral Health Services provides the Northeastern Wyoming community with compassionate, confidential and comprehensive treatment and counseling of behavioral disorders, mental illness and substance abuse treatment following detox. Our outpatient professional team includes psychiatrists, case managers, social workers, nurses, licensed therapists and compassionate support staff.

JOB SUMMARY

Working in conjunction with the Manager Coordination of Care, RN and/or LPN, Mental Health Tech performs a variety of basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act.

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs basic patient care activities.
  • Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to RN/LPN.
  • Assists with admission discharge and transfer of patients.
  • Facilitate educational groups on unit.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs routine cleaning tasks.
  • Documents according to policy.
  • Runs errands, such as lab specimens to Laboratory.
  • Assists RN to complete unit safety checks.
  • May be required to work on other nursing units.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • High school graduate or GED
  • License
    • State of Wyoming CNA Certification or 2 years Previous Mental Health Experience
  • Experience
    • Previous experience preferred.
  • Certifications required
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills
    • Hand/eye coordination in order to use computer, etc. Speaking clearly to communicate with patients, families, physicians and staff regarding patient condition and care.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • Ability to develop positive interaction with patients, patient families, physicians and staff in order to effectively care for the patients.
  • Essential Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing 40 pounds or less in the assessment and implementation of patient care. Requires shift work. May require standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
  • Essential Mental Abilities
    • Must be able to assist in assessing a patient’s condition, formulating a plan of care, selecting appropriate interventions, evaluating patient response to care/treatment and explaining/teaching patients about their condition/recovery. Requires higher level of mental faculties accompanied by short- and long-term memory. Ability to function in stressful situations.
  • Essential Sensory Requirements
    • Corrected vision, hearing to normal range.

OSHA CATEGORY I. TASK THAT INVOLVES EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks.

Employees working in healthcare facilities have the potential to be exposed to hazardous materials including: Hazardous Chemicals/Drugs, Waste Anesthetic Gases, Radiation, Latex, Biological Hazards, Respiratory Hazards and Ergonomic Hazards. See Hazardous Materials in the Workplace Policy.

Hours | Rotating 12-hour shifts. May work night shift, or rotate days and nights. Must work weekends and holidays. May have to take call.
