POSITION SUMMARY: Provides non-clinical support by teaching psycho-educational skills to children and adolescents inside of a classroom setting during the calendar school year.


QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a human services and/or education-related field.


SKILL SETS: Adequate communication skills, process verbal and written instructions, highly organized, dependable, interact effectively with the public, staff, and clients, adaptability-able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, strong sense of commitment, create and follow treatment plans, manage maladaptive .


PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Considerable walking and standing, and participation in activities of the educational environment. Frequent hearing and talking required to communicate with individuals on social skills, behavior directives and in communication with other support systems and professionals. Will need ability to stoop, kneel, hold and stand for lengthy periods of time while preforming job duties. Must have reliable transportation to and from offsite location.


JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Non-clinical; Providing psychosocial educate individuals in the facility
  • Teaching emotional regulation skills; pro-social skills, conflict resolution skills, and promoting mental health awareness
  • Make referral to MH therapist for any individuals that presents in crisis or is identified as needing additional support.
  • Reports any high risk, physical management or exposure incidents immediately to supervisor.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians in professional manner, and directs them to other resource persons as needed.
  • Follows the procedures, regulations, and schedules of the agency.
  • Uses verbal redirection and verbal de-escalation techniques when behavior becomes inappropriate.
  • Participates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
