For our plant in Westborough (MA), GVS is looking for a Membranes Industrialization Specialist, direct reporting to the Site Manager and functionally Corporate Membrane R&D Manager.

This person would be a key player in both operatively managing new product development projects and continuous improvement on existing projects, providing support to engineering and operations Depts in their day-to-day activities.

The Membranes Industrialization Specialist will be central to planning, implementing, carrying out key processes in the development and production of our filtration materials, that will include microfiltration membrane fabrication, trimming, casting solution preparation, quality performance evaluation, basic application testing together with other R&D team and many others.

You will support the Team for ensuring that all processes are transferred from R&D to manufacturing appropriately. You can expect to work constantly with industrial grade chemicals, as well as advanced/ heavy fabrication machinery and equipment.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates and execute R&D and Continuous Improvement projects, That include a laboratory scale realization and its industrialization, This includes product and process validation and the documentation required to transfer to Production
  • Work in and be responsible for the design of different manufacturing and fabrication processes, e.g., casting solution preparation; membrane fabrication, etc.
  • Support Maintenance for preventive maintenance and calibration procedures for assigned equipment and machinery in accordance with equipment requirements as recommended by the technical team.
  • Oversee and ensure the correct and safe usage of all manufacturing and fabrication machinery and equipment, in accordance with Instructions for Use and Health and Safety protocols.
  • Prepare, manufacture and improve work instructions throughout all stages of the manufacturing process. Be a key player in implementation of Health and Safety protocols and requirements as well as its documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Supports Quality to define methods to perform quality control, performance testing, and troubleshooting at different stages of the membrane fabrication. e.g. prepare polymer solutions with adjusted concentrations and temperatures, perform and conduct membrane fabrication in different parameters etc.

Job requirements

  • MSc degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or equivalent. PhD degree or 5 years’ experience in equivalent position.
  • Relevant experience in chemical engineering, mainly related to MF membrane manufacturing or web handling, is an advantage.
  • In particular, we are looking for someone who has direct experience and competency in the fabrication of flat sheet polymeric membranes and is able to execute individual tasks and work in a project team.
  • Membrane filtration process knowledge is preferred.
