Summary/Objective: The Medical Receptionist at Cleaver Dermatology works on a team to ensure the best check-in experience for all in-person visitors and patients calling in to our office. Members of our front desk team exhibit superior customer service and are the first impression of our organization. Daily duties consist of answering incoming calls and routing them appropriately, supporting patients through check-in, check-out, entering and verifying insurance information, scheduling appointments, collecting copays, checking insurance and ensuring patient comfort.

Essential Functions:

Provides outstanding customer service to all patients and members of the public on the phone and in person; greets patients and keeps them comfortable during visit.

Uses EMR system to check patients in and out quickly and efficiently

Processes payments for co-pays and uninsured patients using the EMR system.

Collaborates frequently with the billing department.

Effectively utilizes our EMR system to update patient records and create detailed notes as needed to assist other departments such as nursing and billing

Conducts detailed review of all insurance cards to insure we have the correct cards in the system and effectively communicates with patients so that patients understand what will be covered.

Answer incoming calls and routes patients to the appropriate party as needed.

Schedules patient appointments using the EMR

Keeps work area organized and clean.

Proactively supports other team members and offers assistance as time allows, always staying busy and upbeat.

Efficiently addresses tasks, quickly moving from one task to the next.

Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, Cleaver Dermatology standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to travel independently throughout the practice to access information from other departments. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Business hours are Monday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The front desk staff will work slightly staggered schedules to open the building and cover checkout of the last patients.
