The Department of Radiation Oncology at The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC), at Thomas Jefferson University / Jefferson Health, in Philadelphia, PA is excited to announce several new physician, medical physics, and research faculty positions. We are recruiting for multiple positions, including both early-stage and established/funded investigators. • Individuals will have dedicated research time to perform clinical, translational or basic science research, and will be a part of a collaborative environment that fosters team science.
• There are opportunities for leadership positions within the Department and the Cancer Center.
• We are expanding programs in Translational Medicine, Computational Physics, Radiomics, Novel Biomarkers and Digital Health, and we have launched a new theranostics program for molecularly targeted radiopharmaceuticals. This expansion of the SKCC has been concomitant with scientist recruitment, and the Division of Medical Physics has recently recruited six faculty members.

• We have an active clinical trials program with multiple NCI/DoD-funded grants

SKCC at Jefferson Health is an NCI-designated consortium cancer center that includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University. The SKCC has a large regional footprint with multiple interconnected advanced care hubs. Existing resources include large patient volumes in all priority cancers, clinically annotated biorepositories, a centralized IRB, and a single electronic health record system across all locations.

Current equipment and technology in the Center City Philadelphia location includes:

• 5 linear accelerators: 2 TrueBeam, 1 TrueBeam STX, 2 Versa HDs
• ViewRay MRIdian
• Gamma Knife
• Brachytherapy suite including the nation’s first ImagingRing
• Varian Eclipse and Brainlab Elements treatment planning software
• Mosaiq record and verify software

Jefferson Health and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center are in an exciting growth phase. Over the next year the Department of Radiation Oncology will be adding the following new equipment:

• Four new linear accelerators
• A CyberKnifeS7
• A second ViewRay MR-guided linear accelerator
• Proton Center is expected to open in 2024.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Jefferson is one of the nation’s oldest radiation oncology departments, whose first Chair started the NCI group, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). Our faculty and trainees over the last 60 years have held national leadership positions and are department chairs, residency program directors, and fellows of professional associations. We have a culture of excellence and foster a collegial and supportive environment among faculty, trainees and staff.

The department has established a very successful Summer Student Research Program, with the goal of exposing more undergraduate and medical students to the field early in their education.
