Job description
Job Summary:
The Medical Editor/Proofreader is responsible for formatting and proofing all office progress notes created by the providers. The editor must accurately format and proof progress notes and other patient letters with attention to detail and must be knowledgeable in medical language/terminology and EMR programs. Editors will print all schedules daily for all providers and make sure letters are fully completed and sent to providers for final signatures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Proof and format outgoing correspondence with accuracy.
- Process emergent dictations with accuracy.
- Create admit notes with accuracy.
- Review all office progress notes for all providers ensuring accuracy.
- Fax all office progress notes to relevant providers.
- Print providers? schedules.
- Keep a daily productivity log.
- Review and handle all electronic messages.
- Address all messages in a timely & efficient manner.
- Send messages to providers to electronically sign their office progress notes.
- Keep log showing all processed office progress notes.
- Send messages to providers if office progress notes are incomplete in the patient's chart.
- Send messages to Medical Records.
- Carries out all other assigned responsibilities by the supervisor.
