Medical Biller and Coding Specialist (Non-Exempt) Full Time
The United Methodist Retirement Homes, Inc. General Summary
This position will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager, and other corporate and community team members in performing successful and timely completion of accounts receivable functions within UMRH policies, state and federal regulations, and the goals of the Corporate Office. The team strives for an exceptional revenue cycle management service to our onsite primary care clinic office. The responsibilities of this position include fulfilling all aspects of clinic billing and collections.
Principle Responsibilities
  • Review EPIC visits received by the Clinic to assure proper coding and documentation and resolving issues which may impact the ability to collect charges.
  • Bill claims and follow-up with all payers, including review, resolution, adjustment, and correction of all Clinic accounts.
  • Perform other billing and collection work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Post and reconcile all Clinic deposits.
Job Requirements
  • Physician's office experience as a Medical Biller, Medical Coder, including Medicare B, Managed Care, and coinsurance. A minimum two years of experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED required and must be a certified professional coder through AAPC or comparable certification.
  • Must have exceptional skills in accurate cash posting.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively over the phone with residents, clinic staff and insurance companies.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage work queues in a self-motivated manner quickly and accurately.
  • Must have at least two years of experience using EPIC (Maestro Care).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day. Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
