Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Summary: The person in this position will report to the Clinic Manager. Will perform their duties and the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures as a trained Medical Assistant.

Job Duties:

This position is responsible for the following:

· Proper documentation of Vital Signs - which includes but not limited to

o Pulse and Respiration (Second hand watch required)

o Blood Pressure techniques

o Height and Weight

o Body Mass Index – (BMI)

o Chief Complaint

· Ensure labs, x-rays etc. readily available in chart for Provider visit

· Understanding of Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols for the below documents

o Annual Updates

o Chronic Medication List

o Medication Contract

o History & Physical

o Patient Screening Checklist – HEDIS

· Understanding of proper administering of Immunizations, Injections or dispensing medications. Including but not limited to Vaccine for Children program and/or private vaccines and injections and the CAIR2 program as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols for

· Understanding of CLIA Waived Testing as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols, which includes but not limited to Urinalysis, Pregnancy Test, Hemoglobin, Glucose testing and Hemoccult

· Understanding of Setting up for a Procedure (toe nail removal, Pap Smear, etc..) as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols. Including but not limited to how to complete lab requisitions

· Adequately documenting charges for services rendered

· Understanding of the referral process as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols which includes but not limited to assisting provider with facilitating a referral.

· Adheres to Universal precautions as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols.

· Adheres to Rescheduled and/or Missed Appointments as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols.

· Adheres to daily Patient Schedule and daily assignments as per Policies and Procedures per organizational protocols.

In addition, the below are Expected Daily Duties:

· Keep exam rooms and work areas well stocked and maintain cleanliness at all times

· Ensure cleaning and sterilizing of medical instruments per organizational protocol and equipment while taking initiative to ensure they are done in a timely manner.

· Stock items by submitting weekly orders and following up if request has not been completed

· Be aware of assigned exam rooms

· Answer telephone within one to two rings, and able to self-identify “Name and Organization” with a smile

· Take an adequate message – Caller – reason for call – Pt Name – DOB – Employee Name – Date – and Time – retrieve medical record for completion of message.

· Provide positive and professional internal customer service with peers

· Provide effective communication skills as professionals with Providers and peers

· Follow HIPPA regulations at all times

· Present to work area, ready and able to perform job duties with a professional appearance, grooming and appropriate work attire

· Ensure route slips are done in a timely manner with minimal errors

· Ensure the completion of a new patient chart and able to identify location of new chart

· Work independently with direction from Supervisor and/or Clinic Manager

· Be aware of working partner and lunch coverage

· Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

6) Ability to relate to the public regardless of ethnic, religious and economic status.

7) Must be willing to work at any suite location and weekends if needed.

8) Must obtain a Valid California Driver’s License at all times to allow for traveling.

9) Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care program and team approach to health care delivery.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

1) Must have High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed and graduated from a Medical Assistant Program.

Bilingual in English/Spanish is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.25 - $18.00 per hour

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Medical Assistant Certification? (Preferred)
