RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking several experienced and highly motivated candidates to be part of our engineering team in the Dubuque, Iowa area. You will work with our experienced engineering staff to deliver highly technical analysis reports for our clients using state of the art engineering tools.

Mechanical Engineer - Structural Analysis

The job duties for these positions associated with the structural analysis of designs for product development include:

• Provide engineering analysis support using Ansys / Abaqus to perform modal, linear, non-linear static, dynamic analyses in the design and development of Steel structures
• Use of HyperWorks (HyperMesh and HyperView) for pre- and post-processing
• Use of nCode Glyphworks and DesignLife to do field data analysis and study fatigue
• Provide design engineering team with accurate design recommendations of corrective action
• Work with test engineers as required to develop efficient testing plans
• Perform after-test correlation with FE models to improve analysis methodology
• Write clear, detailed analysis plans, final reports, and other validation documentation
• Use Creo to make model updates

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong computational and mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience or hobbies
• Excellent communication - both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
• Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to thrive in a team environment

Desired Attributes

• Experience using commercial FEA software such as Abaqus or Ansys
• Previous experience with HyperWorkks (HyperMesh and HyperView), nCode, Creo 2.0-4.0 (Pro/Engineer)
• Strong understanding of linear and Non-linear finite element analysis
• Design experience or exposure to large machinery
• Ability to address quality issues, determine root cause and drive to a corrective action
• Desire to work in a fast paced engineering environment focusing on robust designs, quality of product, and accuracy of results
