The Chemours El Dorado facility located in El Dorado, AR has a Mechanical Engineer position available. This position will report to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.
This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Technology function. This role will provide technical engineering and troubleshooting assistance to the El Dorado site, including all synthesis, refining, storage, and shipping operations to maintain and improve the safety, operability, quality, and cost.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide technical stewardship for reactors, fixed equipment, vessels, piping. Provide troubleshooting, evaluation of mechanical failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades which target reliability, uptime, and cost.
  • Manage and lead strategic programs/projects to improve mechanical equipment reliability, mechanical integrity, and safety.
  • Analyze rotating and/or fixed machinery operating problems, provide operating and maintenance support, and assist with the checkout and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Support maintenance personnel during equipment overhauls and unscheduled outages.
  • Represent Chemours interests during equipment overhaul and repair and monitor repair progress in Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) or 3rd party repair shops.
  • Work with plant personnel in development of scope, basic data, and front-end loading of minor capital projects and with capital project teams to generate and/or review equipment specifications for business-critical applications; (e.g., $10,000 - $500,000)
  • Proactively engage other Chemours Engineering technical disciplines (e.g., Consultants for Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Instruments & Process Controls, Electrical and Energy), plant and business personnel, suppliers, and contractors to improve reliability and performance.
  • Develop engineering solutions for chronic and sporadic equipment reliability problems and work with technical, production and maintenance to implement solutions. This would include helping build and upgrade maintenance procedures and auditing to ensure improvements are sustained.
  • Initiation or review for Changes of Designs to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production unit.
  • Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, reliability, PSM, and PPM programs for unit.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support including develop basic data, conduct PHA, and design oversight for major (> $500M) Capital projects.
The following is required for this role:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • At least 3 years mechanical engineering experience.
  • At least two years industrial plant experience.
  • Experience with both fixed equipment (vessels and piping) and heater/furnace and rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, centrifugal compressors, couplings, extruders, etc.).
  • Experience working in a high hazard process and with PSM guide-lined systems including preparation of process change documentation, PHA’s and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Corporate Standards. Familiarity with RAGAGEP, ASME Code, and API Standards.
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting mechanical processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to sell integrated engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Root Cause Failure Analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions from it.
