What to Expect
THE ROLE
As a mechanical design engineer on the Energy Integration team, you will lead product development, layout, and component packaging of Tesla’s Powerwall, Powerpack, Megapack and Supercharging products. Starting with early program scoping and product definition, through design development, and to product launch, you will collaborate across all design and attribute groups to ensure that we leverage product level optimizations while delivering a finished design that has retired all risks while meeting all functional requirements.

The Energy Integration team is a small but agile group of design engineers that collaborate across the Tesla Energy engineering teams while also acting as a bridge between technology development in the vehicle and energy programs. We are focused on working together to create industry leading energy storage and charging infrastructure products that enable the global transition to clean energy. - Mechanical design and packaging of components to meet product and system level requirements while optimizing for product attributes
- Use engineering first principles to evaluate design and engineering concepts, uncover design synergies across broad criteria sets
- Mediate tradeoff situations and facilitate high level decision making consistent with product attribute targets and company goals
- Collaborate widely across the organization with Program, Attribute, Design Engineering, Architecture and Manufacturing teams.
- Support virtual and physical builds at concept, buck and pre-production stages to validate key decisions and refine designs
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a robust first-principals approach
- Highly collaborative, detail-oriented personality and excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in CAD modelling and assembly (CATIA V5 / 3DX is an advantage)
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- A big-picture mindset and passion for engineering of innovative and sustainable products.
- Prior experience in similar role is valued, but the team has openings from entry-level to expert
