Job description

The Mechanic/Shop helper will help oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance. This includes diesel powered units. He/she is responsible for assisting with inspecting, maintaining and repairing trucks, trailers, pick-ups, equipment such as hoses, pumps, reels, pressure washers, etc. Ensure there is a plan of action for maintaining lubes, fluid changes, tire maintenance. Maintain complete and clear maintenance records. Keep the shop and the yard clean at all times. When there is no vehicle to work on you could be assisting in repairing CCTV equipment, sweeping, yard work etc.

The Mechanic/Shop helper is a self-starter position. You must be able to work independently in an efficient manner. Excessive personal use of telephones is prohibited. You must be able to show that you use time wisely. This position requires a wide range of duties which may change from day to day. Communication and being able to understand and take direction well are key. Being flexible is a requirement.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent educational experience such as a GED
• Valid Drivers License with a clean DMV record. Class A or B a plus.
• Ability to work and produce safely under pressure.
• Ability to multi task in a busy work environment.
• Be physically and mentally fit.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with fellow employees and vendors.
• Ability to pay attention to detail with an aptitude for problem solving.
• Must possess good organizational skill.
• Have basic computer skills.
• Ability to stay focused on the task at hand.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter with the desire to meet goals and deadlines.
• Stay focused at the task at hand.
• General knowledge of vehicle diagnostic and mechanical systems.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• At times the job may require extreme patience.
• 2 Years’ experience preferred.
• Will be required to pass random drug screens.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
