SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for coordinating the clinical care and education needs of patients requiring durable mechanical circulatory support (dMCS) and/or transplant. This includes Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Total Artificial Hearts (TAH) and general knowledge of temporary circulatory support devices used to bridge patients to dMCS devices or transplants. Within the scope of an RN, responsible for the oversight and coordination of the extensive requirements from the referral/evaluation phase, to transplant/short-term dMCS/long-term dMCS and post-op management for the longevity of this patient population.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required.

Minimum two (2) years of experience working with cardiac patients and/or two (2) years of critical care experience.

Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners

Certification as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC), and/or VAD Certification, as applicable to the role, and approved by the Program Manager. If Certification is not held at the time of hire, one must establish a plan with Program Manager for obtaining certification within two (2) years of the date of hire.

BLS required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Experience working with cardiac transplant and/or mechanical circulatory support patients.

ACLS preferred.
