POSITION SUMMARY:
The Materials Engineer will identify materials and provide technical support for new business opportunities. From the award of new business, this individual will manage the project until successfully approved by the customer and internal stakeholders. The Materials Engineer will be responsible to ensure new products meet quality and cost objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Setup for new materials: spec identification and qualification
  • Quoting new business: material and process identification, cost analysis, feasibility review
  • Coordinating lab testing to validate new products meet relevant performance requirements
  • Creating BOMs and manufacturing specifications for product launches
  • ECNs for material changes or other changes requiring customer approval
  • Supporting manufacturing with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for customer complaints. Own all actions associated with product design
  • Any other tasks as assigned to support business needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Creativity and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skills in project management
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 preferred
  • Lean Certification preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous engineering role requiring regular customer interaction
