POSITION: Machine Shop Lead

LOCATION: Blackfoot, Idaho

JOB SUMMARY:

The Material Handler Lead Person will provide support to Department Supervisor on production of equipment, employee supervision, allocation and organization of resources, project management, and the development and achievement of departmental and organizational goals. Lead will be available for extended shifts, on-call, and overtime work where appropriate in order to respond to the needs of the build plan. Teamwork and customer service skills are important as Leads are expected to work directly and indirectly with employees, other leads, supervisors and managers, and outside vendors. Lead will consistently demonstrate a high level of responsibility and accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Spend 85% to 95% of time producing product as required by Department Supervisor.

  • Understand and teach the definition of quality and measurements for determining quality to ensure that team members produce high-quality workmanship.

  • Train team members in new procedures and techniques, working one-on-one when necessary.

  • Assist Supervisor in setting and achieving goals.

  • Supervise and support team members to ensure all schedules are met.

  • Ensure all established processes and procedures are implemented and adhered to.

  • Maintain correct and efficient flow of work on shop floor, including diagnosing and resolving issues with parts.

  • Work with Department Supervisor to ensure necessary resources, such as parts and documentation, are accurate and available to meet schedules.

  • Effectively communicate to Supervisors or Managers when performance evaluations disciplinary actions are required.

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with all levels of the organization to analyze and resolve production issues inside and outside the department.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Well-developed knowledge of processes, equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery used in material handling.

  • Proficiency in basic shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple employees, projects, and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to effectively work database management systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software.

PAY: $18.00/HR. or DOE
