Job description
We have multiple job openings for Material Handlers. Primary duties include receiving, storing, loading, unloading, and distributing materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensures adequate stock of raw material in steel yard for present and future demands.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Loads and unloads materials using fork truck, cranes or by hand, onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination.
- Supply plate shop with material from steel yard and return all excess to either stock or scrap as good judgment dictates.
- Ensure constant flow of parts through plate shop as routing calls out.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist.
1-5 years previous experience preferred. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and have accurate measurement and organizational skills.
