Master Planning Leader

Summary of job contents

Create customer satisfaction by ensuring that demand is matched with capacity and thereby delivery targets are met according to promise (Delivery Reliability=DR) and request (Delivery Class Reliability=DCR). Responsible to manage all aspects of material flow, for the assigned Operations Unit(s), and to maintain accuracy and control of raw material and component inventory. This includes all

transactions for planning, scheduling and logistics to finished goods, production plants and end-customers. Ensures that corporate guidelines are applied and supports the further development of best-in-class processes and methods within the global team of Master Planning Leaders. “D-Delivery” responsible for the assigned Value Stream(s) within the QCD Framework of the Operations Unit.


Key accountabilities

  • Negotiate Market demands within the distribution network – Plant
    (Internal) and other Plants, Hubs, Sales Clusters (external)
  • Control and active deviation management for planned market demands
    and distribution within the supply network
  • Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other
    documents to coordinate material handling activities with the
    organization’s current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.
  • Responsible for overall customer order processing along the value
    stream(s) (end to end), including external manufactures
  • Overall responsibility for definition of control methods of product value
    streams, according to market demands and supplier network parameters
  • Responsible for bottleneck and escalations management for customer
    orders within the Operations Unit
  • Responsible for communication to sales, order management and
    distribution network in bottleneck situations and deviations in standard
    delivery times (AV SP)
  • Development of material control concepts and implementation into
    the daily planning process
  • Responsible for material value stream design concepts (novelty and
    series production)
  • Responsible for optimization of complex and multidimensional
    production control topics – definition of material replenishment
    method, dimensioning of control parameters
  • Significant contribution for definition and introduction of worldwide
    dispositions standards and development of material and order
    control methods
  • Establish and implement best practices and methods related to the
    systems and processes which supports effective controlling of
    material and inventory
  • Leads continuous improvement processes and projects in his fields
    of responsibility
  • Support corporate change management & cultural change
  • Support corporate excellence initiative
  • Define, specify and control a production plan for finished and semi finished products within the Operations Unit(s) (short-term and mid-term) to cover market demands
  • Responsible for people capacity planning requirements for Operations Unit(s)
  • Overall responsibility for intercompany supply for production materials (GPC-GPC)
  • Collaborate with Quality Manager in dealing with claims to suppliers and corrective measures
  • Responsible for the inventory management with the main aim to assure balance between availability and inventory costs
  • Develop, implement and manage a cross-functional and fully integrated planning process which facilitates decisions related to make vs buy, capacity planning, scheduling, inventory management and material management with the ultimate motive of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure the accuracy of all production planning and procurement related master data in SAP \
  • Prepare and control department budget
  • Training and Development of team
  • Achieve financial objectives by working with management team in preparation of materials budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating necessary corrective actions
  • Represents the plant/ Operations Unit(s) in monthly S&OP Meetings
  • Negotiates opposing goals within the QCD triangle with sales, finance and logistics locations
  • Continuously communication with the Product Supply Planning Hubs regarding stock plan, production order and delivery time
  • Continuously cooperates with other departments and HQ to ensure that stock levels meet their current and future needs
  • Daily communication with customers (HQ/Market Supply, Logistic Hubs another Festo Plants) and align product demand plan
  • Interact with Purchase, Quality and Production teams during daily start-up meetings and weekly review management meetings to address any operational challenges related to supply chain
  • Regularly communicates and interacts with Industrial Engineering and New Products departments regarding transfer projects and new products and corresponding materials needs
  • Regularly communicate with the HQ dotted line functions;
  • Participate in weekly CQD (Cost Quality Delivery) meetings + LEAD team meeting taking part in decision making on the topics.
  • Monthly meetings with key internal stakeholders such as BU Supply Chain Manager, Operation Unit Leader, Quality, Industrial Eng., Procurement, on demand planning, service levels and delivery challenges and customer complaints
  • 75% internal and 25% external communication mainly to exchange information and regularly to convince others
  • Fine production scheduler and production team leader align with each other. In case of necessary escalation the Value Stream Leader is to be involved. If still no alignment, (key user) production scheduler is involved. Production scheduler talks to Value Stream Leader and Operation Unit Leader. Next escalation step is the Master Planning Leader who talks to Value Stream leader. Last escalation step is Plant Supply Chain Leader and Plant Leader or Head of Global Supply Chain Management

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert ERP system experience in materials and PP modules
  • Advanced production planning/scheduling experience
  • Expert level ERP order processing experience
  • Knowledge of/experience with manufacturing methods and processes, lean tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of/experience with Quality pans and quality audits
  • Knowledge of/experience with costing Principles and Pricing
