Overview:
The Marketing & Communications Assistant will be responsible for creating and implementing consumer marketing initiatives for Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn Galveston. This position encompasses a wide range of marketing tasks. Schlitterbahn’s Marketing & Communications Assistant will build comprehensive, multi-channel campaigns that include paid and organic social media to drive audience and customer growth, engagement, and retention. They will also be tasked with helping in the design, production and installation of in-park signage and promotional communications via eCommerce, web, and mobile. The candidate will also assist with public relations efforts by writing press releases and news pitches, as well as on-site media event production. The candidate will support the planning and execution of special events to help support community engagement . Candidate must have effective communication and independent judgment required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload. This position runs from April through October 2023.
Responsibilities:
  • Writing: social media content, news releases, advisories, blogs, internal articles, and key messages.
  • Manage numerous social media accounts associated with Schlitterbahn.
  • Create dynamic new media content to share the stories of Schlitterbahn, our associates and guests.
  • Prepare various operational reports; keep records pertaining to analytics of social media accounts.
  • Assist with event preparations; including planning event programing, coordination with teams inside the park to facilitate event setup, ordering supplies and equipment while staying within an assigned budget, and more.
  • Attend and manage the execution of events. This includes day-of event setup, facilitating event- specific programing for guests and serving as a point-of-contact for external event partners.
  • Create promotional elements for use in social media platforms, website, and other digital marketing channels.
  • Manage in-park digital display content. Request videos, design graphics, and program content per the In-Park Signage Calendar.
  • Coordinate the production and installation of printed signage.
  • Take photos of park, events, etc. to build and update assets.
  • Maintain photo library. Edit, resize, and crop images for various marketing content.
  • Update website content and messaging based upon requests and suggestions.
  • Create, build, edit and manage bi-weekly Connections Newsletter and other CRM communication.
  • Update Content Calendar.
  • Perform various other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
  • Be a liaison with internal departments on marketing/promotional activities
Qualifications:
  • Working towards an associate or bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or related field.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Up-to-date experience with Windows-based Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent writing skills with copyediting experience.
  • Familiar with various audio/visual capture devices (cameras, camcorders, smart phones, tablets).
  • Experience in event planning and execution. Experience can include internships and extracurricular activities/events.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Photography and content creation experience preferred.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and email.
  • Occasionally, willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
