This is a union represented position, hours are generally, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The reporting location is the Marine Landscape facility located at 9619 N. Rivergate Boulevard, Portland.

  • This position is classified as FLSA non-exempt; therefore, it is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour work week, or per the contract bargaining agreement.
Summary of Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide landscape maintenance for Port-owned industrial parks.
  • Install and maintain lawns, fields, planting beds, trees and irrigation systems in ornamental and native settings, including areas adjacent to bodies of water.
  • Removes debris and litter, and perform general clean up tasks.
  • Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and concrete work as necessary.
  • Complete minor repairs and seasonal maintenance on specialized power landscape equipment.

Minimum Requirements/Skills and Abilities

  • Landscape maintenance experience resulting in the general knowledge of horticulture; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Experienced with the application of fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Familiar with commercial irrigation systems including functions and components is preferred.
  • Current Oregon Department of Agriculture Public Pesticide applicators license (Ornamental & Turf, Right of Way, and Herbicide/Insecticide/Fungicide categories) at time of application is preferred; or, the ability to obtain within 180 days of employment is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Federal government is required. All licensing fees will be reimbursed by the Port of Portland.
