ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manufacturing Operations Manager leads long term strategies and day-to-day operations of the manufacturing location including production, materials, quality control, and engineering, to produce products in the most cost-effective way while meeting shipping and customer requirements. Key responsibilities include safety, quality, on-time deliveries, cost management, and employee relations. The Manufacturing Operations Manager champions lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles and tools throughout the site.

  • Maintain the appropriate level of staffing through the hiring and effective onboarding of field forces and support staff. Evaluate worker performance and capabilities; identifying goals and learning opportunities to grow labor force.
  • Manage and maintain the 5S program for Baer Manufacturing. Drive continuous improvements in the operation.
  • Work with the customers, distributors, engineers, and designers to ensure the product meets requirements and maintain a high level of quality.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their demands and offer sales support where necessary.
  • Work with business development team to generate quotes and customer support.
  • Support the overall organizational strategy by developing and delivering operational plans and outcomes for the facility.
  • Develop annual business plans for the site, ensuring alignment with strategy, quantify business outcomes, develop cases for key projects, and ensure cross-functional integration.
  • Communicate the facility strategy and motivate employees to achieve business goals.
  • Initiate and implement manufacturing methods and processes that support the company.
  • Manage budget plans.
  • Provide senior management with verbal and written reports detailing fulfillment, supply chain forecasting, equipment requirements, budget, and labor activities.
  • Manage and report on facility performance.
  • Set objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these tasks, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary.
  • Understand impact of workflow on warehouse productivity
  • Coach and mentor others to support the development of the organization's talent pool.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or closely related field required.
  • Associates also accepted in combination with years of experience.
  • 5 + years of experience in electrical pre-fabrication.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or project management experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, TPS certifications a major plus.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Ability to read and analyzes production documents.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced ever changing dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization including diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing work, setting priorities, and sound decision making.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This job operates in a warehouse environment and is exposed to weather conditions.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) per warehouse requirements, including but not limited to, hard-toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves, and high visibility vest.
  • This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and fax machines.
  • Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.
  • This position may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
