Job Summary:

Under general supervision, acts as a liaison between the Research and Development team and the Manufacturing team; helps to process new and revised designs through the documentation process; answers technical engineering questions for Manufacturing, Sales, Inspection, and Assembly departments; maintains accurate engineering records of existing products; performs related duties as assigned.

Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains close working relationship with Manufacturing, Foundry, Machine Shop, and Assembly departments to provide engineering support during the manufacturing process for all products;
  • Keeps existing products up to date with changing requirements from manufacturing/production including updates to existing drawings, creation, and maintenance of work instructions for manufacturing/assembly;
  • Following established procedures, processes new engineering data and initiates engineering change order requests;
  • Answers manufacturing questions related to components used in new and existing valve products;
  • Enters numerical and descriptive data from prepared bills of material, and documents in various production management programs and engineering databases using established programs and procedures;
  • Uses production management programs and word-processing software programs to create, store, revise and retrieve engineering records, documents;
  • Creates engineering orders and disposition parts for production control;
  • Creates and revises engineering documents;
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

Experience/Training/Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience; at least 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience with emphasis on machine shop and manufacturability practices; understanding of the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, parts and systems; understanding of casting design, machine shop and foundry practices; trained in PC operation, applicable computer language, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software programs, as well as basic knowledge of spreadsheet software programs such as Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes (sand and investment castings, metal machining equipment) and/or prior exposure to products manufactured in machine shop environments;
  • Considerable experience in manufacturing processes associated with products such as valves, valve-like components, and pressure vessels;
  • Considerable knowledge of drafting practices and GD&T (form, fit, function, and dimensional tolerancing);
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematic drawings;
  • Ability to read and write manufacturing, assembly, and test procedures and reports;
  • Ability to organize work and manage competing priorities with a sense of urgency;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Proven problem solver with the ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others;
  • Evaluate existing processes and workflows to identify areas that would benefit from changes and improvements;
  • Ability to develop technical relationships and act as an interface with internal and external suppliers;
  • Ability to compile and maintain accurate records; and
  • Ability to fluently communicate (read, write, and speak) in the English language.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a computer to access, enter, and update various engineering, design, and customer data and to produce or update designs, drawing, or specifications and related correspondence or documentation;
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment, as applicable;
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;
  • Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the workday; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the workday. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task;
  • Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity;
  • Ability to occasionally reach, lift and/or carry files, materials, and/or records weighing up to 15 lbs.;
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,200.00 - $153,000.00 per year
