The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center’s (MMEC) mission is to grow Montana’s economy by helping manufacturers succeed. We accomplish this goal by providing growth, innovation, efficiency, compliance and managerial assistance to Montana manufacturers for a fee. MMEC is an outreach of the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering at Montana State University. Field Offices are in Butte, Bozeman, Billings, Helena, Great Falls, Kalispell and Missoula, and serve the entire state. This position will be based in Helena, Great Falls or Sidney working independently from an office in one of our partner agencies. Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with regional business advisors to propose automation and technology solutions to manufacturers that will help them achieve their business performance objectives.
Design and implement automation and technology solutions in manufacturing facilities across the state of Montana.
Develop strategic partnerships with machinery, automation, and technology providers that will benefit Montana’s manufacturers.
Develop strategic partnerships with technology integrators that will assist with implementation of automation and technology solutions for Montana manufacturers.
Write and review reports, and track and report project progress and develop and manage third party delivery experts.
Develop appropriate educational materials and present public training workshops and technology demonstrations.
In collaboration with MMEC’s marketing team, write articles for our newsletter.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited college or university, or a minimum of 10 years’ demonstrated experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in improving manufacturing operations through digitization and automation.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, ladder logic, electronics, control systems, sensors, motors, industrial machinery design, PLC control systems, robotics, CNC machining, CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing, ERP systems, visual control systems and OSHA requirements.
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

Identify automation and technology opportunities at manufacturing facilities and then formulate multiple solutions for solving them, demonstrating your skills and abilities, as well as those of your team and the MEP National Network.
Be a self-starter who can work independently to identify, plan, organize, manage and execute projects.
Grow your network of partners and prospects through networking and other outreach methods (including cold calls).
Have excellent human relations skills, evidence of good judgment, flexibility and innovativeness to respond to the needs of a wide variety of clients.
Possess communication skills (oral, written and presentation) necessary to lead others and deal effectively with a diverse group of customers at all levels of the company.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Position will be based in Helena, Great Falls, or Sidney, Montana.

Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.
