Pay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $144,880 to $177,076 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
The Manager of Physical Security and Investigations oversees building security operations across the District as part of Security and Guest Services. Duties include ensuring adequate staffing levels on each shift and confirming regular patrols (Detex) are conducted within and around each District structure, including Honda Center, Arena Corporate Center (ACC), Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), along with future ocV!BE venues, such as the Concert Hall, Market Hall, Urban Plaza, Parking structures (all levels), Meadow Park and surroundings, and other locations as directed. The role manages the operations of the Security HUB, ensuring Operator positions are staffed and critical security equipment is operational (e.g., security cameras, access control, and computer systems). As part of the onboarding process, duties include recruiting, hiring, and processing all new employees assigned to the investigations and physical security departments. Additional responsibilities include ensuring staff receives initial and recurring training and scheduling internal and external training while accommodating schedules and maintaining adequate coverage. The Manager of Physical Security and Investigations reports directly to the Director of Security Operations.
Examples of Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage security operations in and around buildings and common areas of the District
  • Conduct recruitment and hiring efforts for full and part-time security employees
  • Determine minimum deployment at venues in consultation with the Director of Security Operations
  • Ensure adequate staffing District-wide for all shifts
  • Ensure all security employees receive initial, required, and recurrent training
  • Receive and appropriately process complaints (internal and external)
  • Ensure Security HUB Operator positions are staffed on each shift
  • Identify inoperative and/or missing critical equipment (e.g., security cameras, access control)
  • Ensure personnel assigned to a shift or infrastructure are equipped, in uniform, and prepared
  • Communicate and coordinate with any security contractor providing third-party service
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Identify and address any malfunctioning equipment
  • Supervise security personnel & operations at the Safety & Security Operations Center (HUB)
  • Oversee personnel assigned in non-uniform security roles (e.g., Plain Clothes Officers, Investigations, etc.)
  • Oversee and direct investigations related to activity and incidents occurring in the District
  • Ensure relevant information is exchanged during shift briefings
  • Make appropriate notifications as required following critical and/or impactful incidents
  • Make notifications to outside agencies (e.g., police, fire) as needed to address situations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with City public safety representatives (APD, AF&R)
  • Provide information to guests and visitors regarding rules of conduct and prohibited items
  • Respond to incidents in or around the District to assist and supervise line personnel, including criminal and/or disruptive behavior, disputes, intoxicated guests, conflicts, complaints, parking-related incidents, etc.
  • Review/approve incident reports and Daily Activity Reports (DARs)
  • Respond to and resolve emergency and non-emergency situations
Specific Qualifications/Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Required/Optional Experience: Prior service as PSO III, Security Supervisor/Manager, or law enforcement equivalent
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can stand for extended periods and complete consistent walking patrols
  • Able to ride/operate a battery-powered bicycle
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License
  • General knowledge of and ability to use technology, including computers and mobile phones
  • General knowledge of the role of security at ocV!BE
  • General understanding of laws of arrest in California
  • Able to determine a potential crime has occurred and follow up accordingly
  • Specific knowledge of the investigative process, including interviewing techniques, evidence collection, report writing, and collaboration with law enforcement/other agencies
  • Able to problem-solve and reach a resolution
  • Able to plan and coordinate current and future security efforts District-wide
  • Work well with others to establish and maintain effective relationships with fellow workers, supervisors, managers, and other ocV!BE departments (e.g., Food and Beverage, operations, parking, ushers)
  • Work well under pressure; able to think clearly in emergencies, giving accurate instructions and information to others
  • Must always present a clean/neat professional appearance
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
