Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager:

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager will oversee the Cava Foods Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. The manager will lead and verify plant sanitation programs, and assist in the coordination and execution of plant equipment Maintenance. Role includes 70% managing quality assurance and food safety and 30% managing plant sanitation.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, with support from the Cava Foods leadership team, prepare and maintain a Food Safety Plan, including Preventative Controls Plan, Allergen Plan, HACCP, GMP’s, Master Sanitation Plan, Environmental Sampling Plan, Product Sampling Plan and Pre-requisite Programs, for the Cava Foods manufacturing facility that meets industry and regulatory standards.
  • Create opportunities for Team Members to grow in their roles and progress into higher roles in the organization.
  • Prepare and maintain sanitation records and preventative controls documentation as required by Regulatory Agencies and 3rd Party Auditors.
  • Prepare periodic reports, as required, for the management team.
  • Lead and train Plant Staff in the cleaning and sanitation of production equipment, including the use of manual and automated cleaning systems CIP - (Clean in Place), as well as required validation documentation.
  • In collaboration with the plant production leads, operations manager, and vendors, plan and coordinate the purchase and delivery of sanitation equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate product quality testing with the plant production lead.
  • Maintain quality records and prepare periodic reports, as required, for the management team.
  • Work with appropriate inspectors as required. Adhere to proper safety protocols while following state and federal food guidelines.
  • Understand and model Good Manufacturing Practices as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
  • Supervise, train, and assist plant staff, in collaboration with the Operations Manager, on the cleaning and re-assembly of production equipment, including the use of manual and automated cleaning systems to ensure food quality and safety program goals are met.

The Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in food manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Operations Management, and/or a related field.
  • Experience working with and developing a Food Safety Plan and Preventative Controls, HACCP, Sanitation, and product testing programs.
  • Safe Quality Food (SQF) experience preferred.
  • Experience cleaning and sanitizing food processing equipment and environments.
  • Proficient in MS Office including experience using Excel.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Must be able to identify, analyze and assess details
  • For certain positions, must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively
  • Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
