Night Shift Beer Garden Manager (Seasonal)

Night Shift Brewing is seeking a seasoned hospitality professional to manage our beer garden locations in Downtown Boston and Allston. The ideal candidate loves being outside, has management or supervisor experience in a bar or beer garden setting, and is passionate about guest experience and customer service.

This is a seasonal role offering full-time hours; the ideal candidate will be available full-time May through the end of September, with at least limited availability (20 - 24 hours/week, can be a mix of weekdays and weekends) in April and October. Depending on performance and business need, there may be an opportunity for ongoing, permanent employment.

What You’ll Do…

• Create an exceptional experience for Beer Garden guests
• Manage logistics for all Beer Garden locations including scheduling, providing accurate data for payroll, hiring, permitting, inventory management, and other administrative needs
• Role will be split between administrative and hands-on shifts at the Gardens. You’ll be the leader of the crew!
• Responsible for monitoring training and development of new employees
• Manage operations with passion, integrity, and knowledge while promoting the culture and values of Night Shift Brewing
• Delegate duties, assign tasks, and following up with all team members to ensure duties are completed; provide hands-on assistance as required
• Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement
• Provide coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis
• Follow inventory control procedures to reduce product loss
• Ensure team is trained in all policies and procedures
• Consistently monitor product and labor costs to remain within goals
• Solicit guest feedback to understand the needs and wants of customers
• Conduct staff and daily pre-shift meetings as required
• Other duties as required

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• TIPS and/or Serv-Safe Certified & Crowd Manager Certified (can be trained after hire)
• CPR & First Aid Certified
• Brewery experience a plus
• Minimum 2 years hospitality experience; 1 year management or lead position preferred
• Must have valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle to assist in moving product between locations as needed (Beer Gardens, Everett Taproom, and Lovejoy Wharf Restaurant)
• Must be 21+
• Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be able to provide documentation to secure a religious or medical exemption

Knowledge & Skills:

• History of Night Shift Brewing
• Knowledge of providing customer and personal service.
• Ability to use POS system
• Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software
• Strong work ethic and passion for leadership
• Exercise discretion in handling and disseminating financial and non-financial information
• Ability to multitask while being flexible to adjust to sudden changes

Requirements:

The work for this position is performed outside with minimal shelter from the elements. Candidates must be able to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Stand for extended periods of time
• Move kegs and other beer garden equipment as needed
• Lift 50 lbs, push/pull up to 175
• Handle exposure to the elements including but not limited to heat, rain, cold

Compensation:

The Owl’s Nest Manager will receive an hourly wage of up to $32 per hour, depending on experience. This is not a tip-eligible position.
