To fuel our growth objective in the USA, we are looking for a Marketing Manager based in Chicago to shape our brand management, trade marketing and innovation strategy of Barry Callebaut’s Gourmet division. As an integral part of the job, designing and building a superb customer journey (offline & online) is crucial to ensure Barry Callebaut and our Gourmet brands are the preferred partners for our customers to go to, to co-create the chocolate experiences of tomorrow.
Key responsibilities include:


  • Oversee the Gourmet US Brand management, and Trade marketing plans for Cacao Barry, Callebaut, Van Leer, Carma & Monalisa brands.
  • Ownership of Van Leer Brand strategy and innovation pipeline definition.
  • Define strategic brand focus for the USA (in alignment with the NA priority segments), working closely with our commercial teams to ensure marketing initiatives and activities are translated/activated in line with the overall country business objectives.
  • Manage Gourmet brands portfolio in line with our strategy.
  • Create segmented marketing campaigns in partnership with our Segment Manager USA.
  • Understand key touch points of the customer journey, design an integrated marketing strategy with suitable online + offline content/process/trade marketing tools (e.g inspiration/co-creations) to sell tailored solutions/concepts to existing & new customers, in partnership with our regional digital team.
  • Prioritize and implement global priorities and projects locally.
  • Amplify our sustainability strategy in the USA.
  • USA Tradeshows events leadership in partnership with our Chocolate Academy Brand Manager NA.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to establish a strong chef’s community/network, in partnership with our Chocolate Academy Brand Manager NA and Lead Chef NA.
  • Be an advocate for our brands and work closely with our PR agency and digital teams to amplify reach and impact of our initiatives.
  • Be a leader in market insights/trends and competitor intelligence, conduct market studies as needed to uncover new insights, build proprietary knowledge of consumer preferences across the region, and channel them into in to ideas for next generation of chocolate/cocoa innovations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g .Marketing & Chocolate Academy teams, Sales, R&D, and Finance) and external stakeholders (e.g. key customers, distributors, trade companies, chefs)

About you:

  • Master Degree
  • 7+ years professional Brand / Marketing mgt. (Food CPG, B2B), trade/distribution mkt. (required)
  • Commercial background in chocolate / confectionery (preferred)
  • B2B marketing/sales experience a plus (distribution and/or end-user (preferred)
  • Innovation, portfolio design & category development experience (required)
  • Track record of successful Brand, channel and/or segment activation & amplification (i.e. programs & campaigns to drive awareness, usage, and trade-up to value-added solutions)
  • In-depth understanding of company key clients and their position in the industry
  • Able to analyze data and sales statistics from SalesForce dashboard and convert that data into actions
  • Understanding of CRM, database mkt. & social media channels
  • Travel requirements: 20% (USA mainly)
