We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineering R&D Manager responsible for leading a team of systems engineers in the design, development, and commercialization of innovative medical devices within the Interventional Cardiology Therapies (ICTx) division of Boston Scientific. Your responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, coaching, and/or developing organizational talent
  • Fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives
  • Assessing systems engineering project needs and works with technical leads and program managers to ensure they are set up for success
  • Facilitating and developing systems engineering processes and tools that improve the team's ability to support multiple technologies, projects, functional teams, and each other
  • Guiding definition of system architectures, requirements, specifications, integration, testing while driving ICTx systems engineering functional excellence and best practices
  • Creating an entrepreneurial environment within a large organization by rewarding design thinking behaviors
  • Setting priorities and driving focus for the team in partnership with technical leads and project managers
  • Building strategic partnerships across Boston Scientific to further departmental and organizational objectives
  • Developing and executing organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills
  • Monitoring compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable standards (e.g. compliance with various regional regulatory bodies, 60601, Cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Making decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives
  • Developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the budget for department
  • Keeping the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action

What we’re looking for:
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Software, Biomedical Engineering or similar engineering or science based degree
  • 5+ years of medical equipment or medical device design experience
  • 8+ years of general engineering experience
  • Experience using and creating requirements management tools (e.g. Jama, Cockpit, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Software, Biomedical Engineering or similar engineering or science based degree
  • Experience with Class II or Class III medical device product development
  • 2+ years of experience in direct management of engineers
  • Experience using Jira for engineering task and/or backlog communication, organization and tracking
