How You Will Make a Difference

Oversees the management and facilitates production and quality within STERIS Offsite Reprocessing Centers (ORC’s), Outsourced facilities, or Customer accounts. Ensures Customer expectations are met by proactively managing activities and complying with contractual obligations. Provides on-site support, training, and communication to contracted facilities sterile processing department management and personnel. Ensures SPD compliance with STERIS QMS policies and procedures as well as the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. This role will support our 3rd shift, from 10pm - 6:30am, Monday through Friday. This role will require relocation to the Durham, NC area and qualified individuals may be eligible for relocation assistance.

What You Will Do

LEADERSHIP

  • Ability to develop and manage an engaged team to provide excellent day-to-day service that meets the Customer’s needs and contractual obligations
  • Focused on continuous improvement and possesses the ability to engage and coach employees to achieve improvements
  • Interviews, hires, assists with training, and coaching, employees to meet company objectives and Customer requirements
  • Possesses the ability to build and maintain a culture of Employee Engagement and Retention through regular communication and on-going training
  • Determine the appropriate staff mix and properly align staff with fluctuating demand

CUSTOMERS

  • Ensures delivery of Customer Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and conducts regularly scheduled Customer Pulse Check meetings to review quality metrics and ensure expectations are being met
  • Maintains professional relationships with all Customer stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient support to the patient caregivers as it relates to the scope of the contract
  • Resolves client issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Executes the implementation plan weekly to ensure target dates are met and barriers identified
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of the contract(s) and supports with educating and training Customer leadership in all aspects of contracted services

OPERATIONS/PROCESSES

  • Demonstrates complete understanding and applies the STERIS standard processes and possesses the ability to implement and hold the team accountable through daily leadership routines
  • Ensures proper operational processes are followed by all members of the STERIS IMS team in conjunction with the STERIS QMS policies and procedures as well as Department of Health TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN standards and facilities policies and procedures
  • Ensures proper productivity processes are implemented to ensure 100% complete, delivery on time of sterilized products to the Customer
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of all administrative documents and functions (time records, count sheets, inventories, billing, etc.) required by the Customer and STERIS
  • Manages an operating budget for STERIS and understands that all decisions can have a financial impact and manages within the budget
  • Uses Non-conformance documentation to identify areas of deficiencies and creates Corrective Action Plans to manage improvement
  • Develops and executes project plan weekly to ensure target dates are met and barriers identified

What You Need to Be Successful

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 years of relevant experience with 1 year in a Sterile Processing leadership role preferably supporting a minimum of 5 Operating Rooms
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (4+ Years)
  • Must have experience in process management and quality control (1+ Year)
  • Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM required. If not certified at point of hire, it must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Must take 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours each year.
    • Must take an additional 6 Leadership Continuing Education Credit Hours each year.

Preferences:

  • Instrument tracking software and employee management system experience a plus (1+ Years)
  • Excels at managing small to medium SPDs and hospital settings or shift management within an offsite reprocessing center (1+ Years)
  • Medical instrument knowledge a plus (1+ Years)
  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing, Operating Room and Material Management functions a plus (1+ Years)
