Responsibilities:
The Clinical Manager (CM) directs, coordinates, and participates in activities related to the clinical functions of the Occupational Medicine Department including medical monitoring, qualification examinations, and the diagnosis and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and/or guidance for clinical personnel including nurse practitioners, nurses, technicians, and physicians.
  • Maintain contact with all levels of personnel inside and outside the company, as required, to facilitate the establishment and conduct of optimum medical services.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and supervising the clinical services and activities performed by the Occupational Medicine Department.
  • May assist in clinical oversight of the Emergency Medical Services paramedics.
  • Participate in formulation of operational policies and occupational health procedures affecting the work of the organization.
  • Review and incorporates applicable health and medical surveillance standards required by OSHA, the Department of Energy (DOE) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Provide or supervises treatment of illness and injury occurring during working hours and after-hours emergencies.
  • Provide medical consultation, advice and recommendations to management and employees concerning physical and chemical hazards.
  • Oversee and performs pre-employment, periodic, fitness-for-duty, post-illness or injury and termination physical examinations.
  • Make periodic visits to work sites and facilities to become familiar with employees’ job tasks, work site environments, and related or potentially related health hazards.
  • Pursue personal professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature reviews, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Foster an environment where employees feel comfortable to raise, address, and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Generate policies/procedures and reports pertaining to clinic related issues.
  • Stay current with information related to occupational health including radiation safety procedures, hazards, and operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and contractor organizations such as Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Labor Relations, Legal, and Human Resources to discuss matters that involve Occupational Health.
  • Work with other OMD leadership to ensure that quality assurance is developed and maintained.
  • Train and participate in all Emergency Operations Center (EOC) duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain compliance with the Privacy and Security Standards as outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Maintain all required training and certifications including First Aid, AED, and CPR.
  • Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Requires a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, or Nurse Practitioner. All professional degrees must be verifiable from an accredited school of medicine, or nursing.
  • Must be licensed to practice medicine/advanced practice nursing in the state of Nevada.
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification in BLS/ACLS.
  • Physicians must be board-eligible or board-certified in Occupational Medicine.
  • Preference for nurse practitioners with COHN designation.
  • Demonstrated ability in performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, supervise, and mentor employees.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and implementation programs.
  • Ability to develop budgets, standards, and metrics.
  • Able to utilize independent judgment, creativity, and initiative to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence and reports.
  • Must be able to recall extensive policies, procedures, terminology, schedules, personnel, & other details.
  • Must be able to communicate with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Must be proficient in operating computers, printers, reproduction equipment, calculators and facsimiles as assigned in support of normal job duties.
  • Must be able to obtain a Q clearance.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

(position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $118,248.00 - $189,196.80.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
