Job Summary
The Emergency Department Manager is responsible for assisting the Emergency Services Director in assuring patient outcomes, patient experience, employee engagement, quality measures and organizational and regulatory requirements are met. The Emergency Department Manager assists in assuring provision of adequate resources, human and equipment/supplies, and the removal of barriers for desired outcomes. Initiates and participates in process improvement on an ongoing basis, and process redesign as necessary. Works closely with other care teams to ensure seamless flow and optimal organizational outcomes in accordance with the organization’s operating plan. Mentors, develops and coaches process improvement teams. The information described in this job description has been designed to indicate the general nature of the work performed. Salary Range: $50.00/hr to $62.51/hr DOE Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week. Eligible employees also receive sick time pay.

Essential Functions
Maintains knowledge of emergency nursing, models of care, and able to support staff as needed. Conducts and oversees performance evaluations. Initiates and/or implements disciplinary action as required. Effective coach and mentor. Sets departmental/unit standards through research, evidence based care, benchmarks and recognized standards of care. Assists in overseeing the process of patient care of the Emergency Department. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as they relate to the process. Meets organizational and work unit standards as outlined in policies and procedures. Performs all job duties in accordance with recognized safety procedures. Demonstrates the ability to make calm and sensible decisions under various work situations, dealing with immediate problems reasonably. Assist in assessing, communicating and improving customer satisfaction. Facilitates QI activities, audits data collection, and criteria development. Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Must maintain education hours based on the requirements outlined by applicable regulatory agencies (e.g. DNV, etc.).

Experience/Training
Minimum two years prior supervisory or management or leadership experience in a healthcare setting required. Minimum two years of clinical experience.

License/Certification
RN must maintain current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Washington. AHA (American Heart Association) ACLS certification required. TNCC and ENPC required within 6 months. ENPC required one time. CEN preferred.

Other Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing personnel, and other health care professionals and staff. Effective leadership skills required. Demonstrated emotional stability and maturity. Advanced technical and clinical knowledge of areas of responsibility. Demonstrates ability to use computer and applicable software, copy/fax machines, and office computer software as needed.
